The largest cell in the world is an ostrich’s egg. Before fertilization, the entire interior of the egg consists of a single cell, which is approximately 15 cm long and 13 cm wide and weighs up to 2.3 kgs (5 pounds).

Penicillin, the first true antibiotic, was discovered in 1928 by Alexander Fleming, Professor of Bacteriology at St. Mary’s Hospital in London.
